    LEAD COUNSELLOR

I've carried a deep passion for the community services field, especially in mental health, my entire life. Growing up in a family of allied health professionals, I absorbed values like compassion, empathy, empowerment, kindness, and the importance of autonomy.

My journey started back in 2016 with a vision to shake things up in community care and reduce my clients' hospital visits. The goal was to impart vital life skills, enhance daily living, and ease the burdens of mental illness. This personal touch led to recognition as a community leader by the Queensland Mental Health Commissioner.

As I've progressed in my professional career, my focus has broadened to include:

    - Trauma

    - Behavioral disorders

    - Personality disorders

    - Dissociative disorders

    - Suicide prevention

I'm a bit of a knowledge enthusiast, always eager to stay ahead in this ever-evolving industry. You'll find me delving into medical journals, joining webinars, attending seminars, and constantly honing my skills through ongoing studies. Plus, I'm part of a professional network that keeps me plugged into the latest insights. Here's to staying informed and making a difference!

  • Michelle Stoneham

    PRACTICE MANAGER

I've been on the ABCCS journey since 2021. Starting as a placement student, I found my groove as a part-time receptionist before taking on the role of Practice Manager in mid-2023.

My heart has always been in healthcare and supporting people, especially those in the neurodivergent community. Drawing from personal experiences with mental health, disability, and navigating the NDIS as both a caregiver and service provider, I bring a unique perspective to the table.

What sets me apart is my passion for listening – really hearing what individuals and the community need. I don't just follow the books; I believe in tailoring solutions to what works best for you. My goal is to meet you where you are and work together as a team to uncover and conquer your personal goals. Let's make your journey at ABCCS a personalized success story.

  • Karen Dekker

    PEER SUPPORT PROVIDER

Hey there, I'm Karen Dekker, and I've been part of the ABCCS family right from the start. Initially, I kicked things off in the admin team, where I learned the ropes of keeping things running smoothly.

Come 2019, I switched gears and became a peer support worker. It's been an incredible journey, and I love being there for our community, offering support, understanding, and a friendly face. Making a positive impact on people's lives is what keeps me going.

Outside of work, you'll find me lost in conversations – I'm a big fan of a good chat. I'm also passionate about singing; there's something magical about expressing emotions through music. And, of course, I'm a bit of a computer geek, always curious about the latest tech trends.

I believe in the strength of community, kindness, and always learning. These values align perfectly with ABCCS's mission, and I'm thrilled to be part of it. Looking forward to bringing my skills, interests, and a bit of a friendly vibe to our team and community!

  • Kate Leather

    RECEPTIONIST

Hey, I'm Kate! You'll usually find me holding down the fort part-time at the reception here at ABCCS. My journey in the Aged Care sector spans a whopping 28 years, where I've worn the hats of a frontline carer and even dabbled in management. It's been a rollercoaster of experiences in both residential and community care.

What drew me to ABCCS? The flexibility it offers, which allows me to be the primary carer for my grandson. Family means the world to me, and being able to balance work with quality time for my loved ones is priceless.

Being part of the ABCCS team lets me continue making a positive impact on the community I've dedicated so much of my life to.
